About the Project:
Located at the entrance of Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus and just steps from Harvard Business School, the Atlas Hotel introduces a modern boutique hospitality experience to Boston. The 246-room hotel, which includes 12 suites, was designed with sustainability in mind and has achieved both LEED Gold and Fitwel certification.
The property was designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects in collaboration with INC Architecture & Design and is operated by Highgate. The hotel blends contemporary design with elements that reflect Boston’s culture and innovation while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding community.
Amenities throughout the property include a curated living room-style lobby, flexible meeting and event spaces, and a full fitness center. The ground floor is home to Ama at The Atlas, a 180-seat restaurant created by the team behind Comfort Kitchen in Dorchester. Guests will also be able to enjoy Foxglove Terrace, a 7,000-square-foot rooftop bar offering panoramic views along with cocktails and casual dining. A retail space operated by The COOP, Harvard University’s bookstore, further connects the hotel to the local academic community.
The Atlas was designed to serve as a social hub for both travelers and locals, bringing together hospitality, culture, and community in one of Boston’s newest innovation districts.
Scope of Project:
For this project, Draper partnered with Mitsubishi Elevator for the first time following their recent expansion into the Boston market. The collaboration resulted in four highly customized elevator interiors designed to create a bold and modern visual experience.
The cab interiors feature vibrant color accents paired with glass wall panels that transition between mirrored and transparent finishes, creating a dynamic sense of depth within the space. The front walls incorporate custom swing return panels finished in a non-directional oxidized bronze, adding warmth and texture while complementing the contemporary design.
The finished design brings together innovative materials and precision fabrication to deliver a distinctive interior that reflects Draper’s forward-thinking environment.
